Sup Adventure followers,

This week’s adventure includes trains, flowers, bird watching and hail.

C&C Mystery Co. took the Metra out to the Chicago Botanic Garden. With a promising 70 degree day, we packed up some snacks and threw on the Hawaiian shirt for a fun day of exploring the gardens. No later then 5 minutes after we walked into the visitor center, it started pouring rain..followed by massive hail.

Lucky for us, it only lasted about 10 minutes then the sun came back out.

We got really pumped when we saw a sign for “Antiques and Flower Show” going on in the Gardens that weekend, but then got equally bummed out that it cost money to get in. C & C is all about the unpaid adventures (unless it’s an awesome haunted house ran by the coolest guy ever) so we started walking around through the various sections. April is not really the best time to visit since they don’t have much growing yet but it was still fun walking around. They had areas for veggie gardens and what looked like tutorial buildings for starting planters and vertical gardens - definitely coming back for that. Across from this really cool waterfall was the Japanese Garden. We crossed a traditional Japanese wood bridge to the Zen gardens and crazy looking trees. They also had massive Koi fish that liked to follow Chris back and forth across the bridge and they’re lips kinda weirded me out.

Other cool things -
Huge roof top gardens onto the Science Learning Center
Awesome looking Model Train Garden which wasn’t open yet (BUMMER)
We got a Bird Watching book since we’re always outside now, might as well know what’s up in the bird world.

Cost: free unless you want to get into a special event
Transportation: take the Metra to Braeside or drive

Okay, think that’s it for now.

Smell ya later.

Raven’s Grin Inn

We drove 3 hours last night from Chicago to get to the Raven’s Grin Inn. For a lover of haunted houses 3 hours didn’t matter I had to see what this place was about. Not realizing 3 hours to my non spooky friends is a little far, so I was a tiny bit surprised and very happy when I found my self in car with them heading west on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily enough by the end of the night they and I where not disappointed.

Its the sort of place you think a haunted House would be when your a kid, but then you go to ones in your home town and are let down by it just people wearing mask’s standing in fog. Raven’s Grin is in another league then though’s places.

Not only are you lead threw a maze of laughs and scares in reality but also in your own mind. The Tour Guide Jim is “crazy” good at building up a the frighting atmosphere with his story’s told in the un-trust worthy dark. The the twist and turns of the house will give you joy that a place like this exist’s out side of a black and white Vincent Price movie.

This place is every thing I wanted from haunted house and I can’t wait to return.

Cost: $15 per person - plus gas for the trip out there.

PS its year round„, so get going
